Blockchain after the Hype

Optimistic about the maturing of the market and after three years on this journey with corporate performance, my vision is that it is not a panacea to work with Blockchain and build the infrastructure for new business models. However, the use of DLT Distributed Ledger Technologies, a category in which Blockchain belongs according to the World Economic Forum, is starting a more mature phase.

Two years ago, anyone could pass for a Blockchain expert without running or seeing a single piece of code. Blockchain experts for businesses appeared as “pop-ups” in the 2000s, with no projects built or even a real business PoC to effectively assess the platforms’ potential. Leaders and evangelists multiplied weekly; the “Wave” was enormous, and many surfed it with mastery. While the price of cryptocurrencies reached heights, like a magic word, Blockchain opened agendas, pockets, and drawers of projects forgotten in time, which reminds us that Blockchain, like any other technology, is complex, severe, and pragmatic work.

Distributed Ledgers Technology — WEF

In this process, there is no glamor or easy work to make a parallel between the real and digital world. Imagine professionals who work building infrastructure at the front removing stones, whether technological, procedural, or governance; here lives one of the reasons why I can't always attend events (I promise, I'll improve). Supported by friends, I will write a series of articles to share lessons learned and, no doubt, learn many others. The potential of Distributed Ledger Technologies has not changed, some may never have existed, and we will talk in this series if you went through the phase where Blockchain was the cure for all the world's problems, saw fruitless and sometimes even religious discussions about platform A or Technology B and now gone, be happy, and let's get to work! (P.S: If you are still in this moment, I respect, but I advise you to leave as soon as possible).

After the Hype, it is my call to you, who want to understand and share the business challenges of adopting a structuring technology with pragmatism and seriousness straight from the front. So let's go together until the next article!
